Mission
FLORECER: Reproductive Justice and the Abortion Fund of Arizona utilize the reproductive justice framework while centering abolition values to prioritize community needs. We advance reproductive equity, pregnancy and family justice, and abortion access for all folks living in Arizona through direct service programs, education, advocacy, mutual aid, and research.
We firmly believe those who are most impacted by injustices are the ones who are closest to the solution. In our work and within our organizational culture, we are committed to centering the voices of Black, Brown, Indigenous, and people of color, and others who have been marginalized by governments and policy choices. Black and Indigenous leadership are our guiding stars in building collective power with community.
Vision
We envision a society where people and families live in thriving communities and are treated with dignity when making reproductive decisions that are right for them. This includes, but is not limited to, pregnancy care, birth justice, and choosing abortion(s). We work towards a future where reproductive healthcare is accessible, affordable, compassionate, and patient-centered. We organize for a future in which these choices are made not only free of barriers but also free of stigma, shame, and judgment.
Organizational Reach
FLORECER: Reproductive Justice’s work extends well beyond our state borders through collaborations across the southwest and U.S.
Local
On the local level within cities and counties, we focus on community education, narrative and culture change campaigns for abortion access, reproductive healthcare policy, and pregnancy justice. We conduct abortion access research in rural communities through our Rural Access Project, and engage in municipal and state advocacy efforts with coalition partners, community collaborations, and elected officials.
Regional
Our regional work for abortion access is primarily through our Abortion Fund, collaborating with other funds in the Southwest, Texas, and other US-Mexico border states. Arizona residents have always crossed state lines to access abortion care, well before Dobbs. Our state clinics are condensed in two major cities, so supporting abortion seekers with travel to California, Nevada, New Mexico, or Colorado has been part of our work for years. We are co-facilitators of the Regional Abortion Alliance, a 14-state coalition for abortion access.
National
Our organization also engages in national collaborations, which is essential for a well-rounded understanding of the national abortion landscape while also growing our work within intersectional movements. Through our membership with the National Network of Abortion Funds, we engage in federal advocacy work for abortion access and strategize with other abortion funds across the country. We are a member of the Abortion Care Network. We have a seat at the table for Working Families Party Arizona, providing education to elected officials on how policy and laws impact people in real time. And we aspire to be an organizational member of Detention Watch Network, who is actively supporting our local efforts in coalition to shut down detention facilities across Arizona.
